Course Objectives
This is a 2-day program designed to build upon the sourcing essentials program. It covers key topics at a more advanced level and makes extensive use of complex case studies. This 2-day workshop is aimed at providing procurement professionals with an understanding of the processes and tools which are essential to establishing and operating an advanced sourcing including category management approach, reverse auctions and E-procurement.The workshop will explore the fundamental issues associated with strategic sourcing, from a simple clarification of the subject through to the practical issues of making it a reality. Participants will be introduced to a typical category management process and given an appreciation of the key tools.What will you gain?
By the end of the workshop, participants will understand:- To assess supply market cost structures, drivers and levers
- Identify how to assess a category in terms of its supply chain or the value chain
- Apply advanced techniques to differentiate the management of spend and identifying an appropriate sourcing approach to its management
- Identify how current suppliers’ perceive the company in a given supply market and bring this together with the buyer’s view to identify possible courses of action
- Identifying and evaluate category and sourcing options and go-to-market strategies
- Understand the application of E-procurement and Reverse auctions when sourcing.

- Identify a range of different category and sourcing strategies and know how to apply them
- How to identify the forces which exist within a market and their impact upon competition.
